[Introduction to the Education Development Foundation]
Recent years, more and more enterprises, institutions, social groups and individuals at home and abroad support the construction and development of SCUT through generous gifts. To strengthen the management of various giving projects, broaden the university fundraising channels, ensure the safety and raise the proceeds of the endowments, SCUT decided to found Education Development Foundation. In July 2007, South China University of Technology Education Development Foundation was registered in Department of Civil Affairs of Guangdong Province, and it is a non-profit social organization with independent legal entity. The foundation is empowered by the university to accept and manage the donations in and out of the university. According to the regulations of South China University of Technology Education Development Foundation, the board of trustees of the Education Development Foundation is in charge of the affairs of the foundation, and under the board the secretariat (foundation office) is set up to handle the foundation affairs. The foundation office is attached to the Public Relations Department.
The mission of the foundation is to strive for the support from enterprises, institutions, social groups and individuals at home and abroad within the allowance of the state laws and regulations, and gather the social resources to promote the development of SCUT education career. It is founded to accept and manage the donations to SCUT. And the donations are distributed to education and scientific research, talents introduction and outside communication, campus construction, scholarships and stipends, student activities, and other university educational projects. And the donations of special projects can be used for special purposes according to the choice of the donors.
At present, the foundation has set up more than 400 funds in university, such as faculty grants, scholarships, stipends, and scientific innovative funds, etc. In addition, the foundation strengthens the relations with alumni of SCUT and other celebrities in charity to strive for their support and care for SCUT.
In the future, the foundation will make more efforts to promote the university teaching and learning, scientific research, high-technology development, and campus construction, and make its contribution to develop SCUT into a world famous university. South China University of Technology yearns for the support from enterprises, institutions, social groups and individuals at home and abroad.
