Founded on 17, Nov. 1984 when SCUT celebrated her 32nd anniversary, Alumni Association of South China University of Technology (SCUT) is a non-profitable mass organization consisting of an immense number of alumni of SCUT. It aims to maintain and strengthen the close ties between the alumni as well as that of the association of alumni both at home and in aboard and SCUT, inherits and develops the good tradition of SCUT, and contributes jointly to the development of SCUT and the construction of our motherland. Alumni Association of South China University of Technology is made up of board of directors that consists of alumni representatives from all walks of life, one president, a certain number of vice presidents, and one general secretary. The president position is held by the present president of SCUT. General Secretary is nominated by the president and the board of directors is designated and subordinated with secretariat. The workers of the secretariat is staffed and arranged by SCUT. The secretariat of Alumni Association of South China university of Technology runs “Journal of the Alumni Association of SCUT”, the alumni-serving website, etc. At present, the branches of Alumni Association of SCUT home and aboard amount to about 60 with the total number of the alumni reaching 150,000 people. From 1984 to 1994, Alumni Association of SCUT was attached to the Unite Front Work Department. Since 1994 when the institutions and their functions of SCUT were reorganized, the office of alumni was established which especially deals with the alumni work with a staff of 3 persons. It is located in the NO. 2 Building of SCUT.
