A few days ago, Professor Chen Kefu from College of Resources Science & Papermaking Engineering, who is also the first and only engineering academician in China papermaking industry at present, is chosen as The Man of The Hour on Thick Liquid Paper in China, 2004” by "Business Weekly", which is sponsored by Xinhua News Agency Information Centre. At the same time, the news “The First Engineering Academician in China Papermaking Industry at Present--- Professor Chen Kefu” is chosen as “Ten Top News in China Papermaking Industry in 2004” by Jinghua Paper Industry Net, among other 20 Paper Industry Medias.
Academician Chen Kefu graduated from Mechanics Department of Fudan University in 1966. Later, he became a student of Professor Long Yanquan from Tianjin University of Light Industry. From then on, he marched toward papermaking scientific research and stepped into the teaching field. In decades, he has made great efforts to apply physics and hydro-mechanical theory of chemical industry to the scientific field of papermaking. From various disciplines, he adopted alternate analysis, studying and explaining the phenomena demonstrated in unit operation of papermaking engineering. Many years of teaching in scientific research practice makes him realize that papermaking technology involves multi-disciplinary fields, such as chemical industry, machinery, information, instrument, material, environment, and bioengineering etc. It is the cross-application of the above mentioned disciplines. It is the crossing application of these frontier branch sciences, however, that makes the great gap between us and world standard. With his continuous efforts in the research, he has made great achievements. He has written a large number of monographs and theses. Due to his remarkable scientific and technological achievements, he was rewarded two national scientific awards, many scientific awards and more than ten patents provincially.
