Network Center

Network Center of South China University of Technology (SCUTNC) is located on the first floor of Shaw Science Building the beautiful campus of South China University of Technology, Guangzhou. It is in charge of connecting the campus networks of the universities and institutes in southern China area (including Guangdong province,Guangxi province and Hainan province) to CERNET. Furthermore it is linked to the global Internet.

It bears all responsibilities for operating management of the regional network and keeps all equipment and communication lines working properly. Moreover, it provides technical supports for communicating and routing for a campus network within the region.

In addition, it is in charge of managing the usage of IP addresses and domain names in the regional network, and maintains all software systems and information resources running in the center. It also answers user's questions in the fields of technique and management when they access the network.
It is responsible for all kinds of training, developing and international cooperating.

Network Center of South China University of Technology / SCUTNC, founded in 1994 ) is a famous base in high-performance networking and Internet software engineering with an integration of Internet network operation, professional services, education training as well as providing various network services. It is also the South China Network Center of China Education and Research Network (CERNET) backbone, and manages the CERNET's South China region. Besides it is the Key Laboratory of Computer Network supported by Guangdong Education Department. A great number of education & research institutions and labs in South China are connected to CERNET/Internet via SCUTNC. Currently, the bandwidth of CERNET backbone has been up to 2.5Gbps , there are about 500,000 broadband users in south China region, and more than 5,000,000 users all over China.

There are many high-level research staffs and professors in the center . We have undertaken many key scientific and research projects and network construction of both Guangdong and nation , with a very good cooperation with Chinese top universities, enterprises and governments.

Since its establishment, SCUTNC has amassed a string of success stories, due to its strong determination to succeed as well as its staff's professional expertise and rich experience in networking management, high-performance IP networking technology, e-commerce, distance education, networking construction and so on. SCUTNC has close relationships and cooperation with many famous IT companies, such as IBM, SUN, SGI, Microsoft, BEA, Cisco,Red Hat, Intel, Fluke, etc. SCUTNC has a high reputation for its contribution to the Internet in Guangdong and China, and has become a hub of education and scientific information highway in South China, a developed base of modern networking technology as well as a network training center.
