The SCUT

SCUT has a faculty of over 4,294, with 2,021 teaching and researching staff, 5 fellows of China Academy of Science, 2 fellows of China Academy of Engineering, 15 double appointed fellows (honored by two universities), 1 foreign fellow of Russian Academy of Science, 925 supervisors for postgraduates (including 271 and 915 supervisors for doctoral and master students respectively). Presently, SCUT has over 56,777 students, including 12,055 master's degrees candidates and doctoral candidates, 19,487 undergraduates, 12,174 continuing education students, 12,879 on-line education students and 182 international students, which have formed a complete talent cultivation system of bachelor degree, master degree and doctor degree.


Over the past 54 years, the university has cultivated over 130,000 talented graduates, so as to be named by the society as ¡°a cradle of engineers¡± and ¡°a cradle of entrepreneurs¡±.


Aiming for an international university, SCUT has been very active in international academic exchange, promoting collaborations with more than 50 overseas universities.

All degree programs of SCUT are for international students to apply for. Our international students currently enrolled come from 47 countries to study Chinese, Chinese Culture, Arts, Science, Engineering, and Business Management, etc. School of International Education (SIE) is responsible for the recruitment, management and teaching to international students, offering foundation courses as well as liaison service to the Chinese students who are going to study abroad. Besides long-term and short-term general Chinese language programs, SIE also offers content-based Chinese courses in IT, Science and Business, Cantonese course, culture tour for the aged and summer/winter camp, etc. With 10 years of practice in teaching international students, our faculty has become enriched in teaching experience that has led to profound teaching skills.
