The so-called ''matrix approach'',discretization of operators of arbitrary real (integer and non-integer) order and the numerical solution of fractional-order differential and integral equations is presented in this seminar. This method allows easy, uniform, and transparent solution of ordinary fractional differential equations, partial fractional differential equations, and ordinary fractional integral equations. The Matlab toolboxes that implement this method are presented, too, and are used in illustrative examples of numerical solution of various standard types of differential equations of non-integer orders.
His research is focused mainly on the fractional-order calculus, its method, and its application.
Prof. RNDr. Igor Podlubny, DrSc.developed analytical and numerical methods for fractional-order differential equations, the so-called “matrix approach” that later became a general framework for solving ordinary and partial differential equations of arbitrary order. he also contributed to web standards (two of his tools are recommended by W3C)and scientometrics. In 2017 Prof. Podlubny was elected anacademician of the Learned Society of Slovakia.
