[Abstract]
This lecture presents work conducted with seeks to use the information contained within natural products to develop new approaches to antibacterial therapies, and new materials with novel properties. It describes the preparation and evaluation of new chemical matter for biological properties, and the surface modification of materials to introduce colour, antibacterial and mechanical properties to previously unfunctionalized materials.
