SCUT has developed China’s first full-color flexible AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display and repeatedly broken the world record for energy conversion efficiency of single-junction polymer heterojunction solar cells. These achievements were selected as 'China's Top Ten Scientific Breakthroughs'.

SCUT has pioneered cleaner production processes and comprehensive water pollution control in the pulp and paper industry, significantly contributing to shedding its reputation as a major polluter and fostering clearer waters and greener mountains. This work was awarded the National Award for Science and Technology Progress (First Class).

SCUT pioneered the internationally leading "ERE" technology (Plasticizing and transporting method and equipment for polymer materials based on extensional rheology) and developed high-performance environmentally friendly high barrier film. These innovations help address the significant challenge of white pollution from agricultural plastic film.

SCUT proposed the groundbreaking 'bioadaptabity' theory, solving the international challenge-regeneration and repair of large load-bearing bone. The related outcomes have been applied in over 400 hospitals across China and Europe, benefiting approximately 300,000 patients by limb salvage.

SCUT developed high toughness ultra-thin asphalt friction course technology system. With the limit thickness of only 6mm (the world's thinnest), it offers optimal noise reduction, skid resistance, crack resistance, and environmental benefits, positioning it as a leading technology worldwide for high-end road surface friction course.

The power grid technology team at SCUT has achieved internationally leading innovations in ultra-high voltage DC (UHVDC) transmission project±800Kv and theory of AC/DC system interaction, making outstanding contributions to the development of China's power grid technology.

SCUT creatively proposed the architectural design theory of 'Two Views and Three Features',which emphasizes that design should adhere to the principles of 'the holistic view' and 'the sustainable development view' and reflect the harmony and unity of 'the features of region, culture and times'. It dedicated efforts to sustainable urban development and green building science and technology. The team has led the design and completion of numerous landmark projects of great political and historical significance, including the China Pavilion, Shanghai Expo 2010 and the Shanghai Cooperation Qingdao Summit conference centre.
