In recent years, SCUT has hosted nearly 2,000 international students from 130 countries, across all 25 schools and departments, with degree-seeking students accounting for approximately 60% of the total. In 2013, SCUT was selected as one of the Ministry of Education’s first “Demonstration Bases for International Student Education in China.” In 2016, the university successfully passed the first national Higher General Education Accreditation for International Students in China(HGEAIS). In 2019, SCUT was approved as a pilot institution for the Chinese Government Scholarship Preparatory Program. In 2023, the university successfully passed the national “Re-accreditation of HGEAIS”.
