Due to a system upgrade, the new instructions for CALIS login username and password will be effective from October 30, 2024:

1) The new system uses SCUT’s Central Authentication account and password.

2) Users accessing the new CALIS interlibrary loan system for the first time are required to complete their personal information (students should enter their student ID as the username, while faculty and staff should use their Central Authentication account) and submit it for librarian verification. Access will be granted only after the information has beenapproved.

3) For existing users whose accounts are not based on a student ID or faculty/staff ID, and whose accounts do not involve funding or interlibrary loan transactions, it is recommended that they update their personal information using their student ID or Central Authentication account (without the email domain) before using the interlibrary loan services.

Introduction: CALIS, short for the China Academic Library and Information System, primarily provides the following services:

Document Delivery: Nearly 1,000 university libraries in China, National Science and Technology Library (NSTL), National Library of China, Shanghai Library

Physical Book Borrowing and Returning: National Library of China, Shanghai Library, and some university libraries

Article Ordering: CQVIP, CNKI, EBSCO

Proxy Document Search & Retrieval: for specific literature or rare resources, such as those held by the British Library.

CALIS Full-text ResourcesOnline Reading and Download: 360,000 e-books (downloadsare valid for one month)

Q1: The CALIS Interlibrary Loan login page cannot be displayed.

SCUT Library uses the CALIS Shared Domain Platform hosted by the Provincial Center.This system has been stable for years, with very few campus network users experiencing connectivity issues. Currently, users are recommended to use Google Chrome and avoid browsers with webpage acceleration such as Sogou Browser.

Q2: Username and password issues

1. Readers must log in using SCUT’s  Central Authentication account and password.

2.If a user can log in but cannot use CALIS Interlibrary Loan services, please contact the Interlibrary Loan Office for assistance.

V. Free Use Quota

Registered users of SCUT are entitled to free usage quotas: 300 RMB per faculty member, 200 RMB per graduate student, and 100 RMB per undergraduate student

 The limited number oforiginal document copies provided by our library are strictly limited to personal study and research purposes only and may not be used for any commercial purpose. Any use beyond the scope of the aforementioned fair use shall render the user fully liable for any copyright infringement that may occur.

 In principle, photocopying or scanning of journals shall not exceed one-third of the entire issue or four articles, and the reproduction or scanning of book chapters shall not exceed one-third of the entire book.
