Donation
Since its establishment in 1952, the South China University of Technology (SCUT) Library has been honored to receive generous donations of materials from all sectors of society. We extend our sincere thanks to all our donors! We continue to welcome and encourage donations of books, manuscripts, and other scholarly materials from SCUT faculty, students, alumni, and friends in the wider community. To guide potential donors, the Library's Donation Policy is outlined below.

  4. Are titles not currently in the Library's collection, or for which additional copies are needed;

  5. Are in generally good condition.

Ⅱ. Books Not Accepted for Collection:

Due to limitations in collection scope and storage space, the library must assess all donated materials. The following types of books cannot be added to our collection:

  2. Books that violate the provisions of the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China.

  3. Incomplete or damaged books.

  5. Books with outdated content and little to no remaining academic or research value.

  6. Other books that do not align with the library's Collection Development Policy.

Ⅲ. Disposal of Non-Accepted Books:

  1. Redirect: Books of value that duplicate our existing holdings or are otherwise unsuitable will be offered to other institutions.

  2. Discard: pirated books or badly damaged books will be directly discarded.

Ⅳ. Related Rights:

Once donated books are received by the library, the library assumes the ownership and right to dispose of these items. The library reserves the right to dispose of items not added to the collection and to deaccession any donated item at a future date, without obligation to notify the donor.
