On the afternoon of March 17, South China University of Technology (SCUT) convened a sharing & exchange meeting for the first group of management staff returning from overseas placement training programs. Chancellor Tang Hongwu attended and delivered remarks. Mai Junhong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee, and Xu Yong, Vice President, were also present.

The four selected staff completed their placements at prestigious international universities, including the University of Cambridge, Nanyang Technological University, and Politecnico di Torino. Drawing on their one-month placements, they shared insights and reflections on student education and management, residential college development, talent cultivation and recruitment, and internal campus management University leaders and participants engaged in in-depth discussions, with targeted feedback and questions fostering a lively and productive exchange.

In his concluding remarks, Tang Hongwu highly affirmed the outcomes of the program. He emphasized the need for enhanced coordination among relevant departments to establish a “closed-loop” working mechanism encompassing selection, management, and evaluation. He stressed that overseas placement training should serve as a key platform for capacity building and institutional development. Moving forward, SCUT will continue to select staff for overseas placement training.
