From June 12 to 14, the inaugural Symposium on New Analytical Testing Methods and Standardization Technologies in Universities was held in Guangzhou. The event was hosted by the University Analytical Testing Branch of the China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA) and organized by the South China University of Technology (SCUT), bringing together over 50 authoritative industry experts and more than 200 representatives from various sectors.

Themed “Standards-Driven, Innovation-Empowered, and Shared Success”, the event featured three thematic sessions: standardization of domestic instruments, standardization of innovative testing methods, and industrial standardization practices. It served as a national platform for industry-academia-research exchange, aiming to advance the quality upgrading of standardization in analytical testing across universities. Wu Bo, Vice President of SCUT, introduced the university’s extensive experience in inspection and testing, domestic instrument R&D, and standardization. He emphasized that the standardization of analytical testing is a crucial pillar supporting sci-tech self-reliance and industrial upgrading, and that SCUT will continue to leverage its platform to promote industry development.

During the keynote session, Li Jinghong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Yu Xinli, President of China Association for Standardization, shared insights on standard transformation and new standard systems in the AI era, respectively. During the thematic presentations, over 30 experts shared their practical achievements in domestic instruments, testing technologies, and industry standardization. Concurrently, the Scientific Instrument Support Professional Committee was established at the event to coordinate and advance instrument R&D, standard improvement, and application support.
