On July 9, Clarivate Analytics released the latest data from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI), showing that South China University of Technology (SCUT)’s Neuroscience and Behavior discipline has entered the global top 1% for the first time.

This milestone marks a significant achievement for the University’s Life and Health disciplinary cluster, one of SCUT’s first five major disciplinary clusters, reflecting its progress in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across medicine, engineering, and the sciences and advancing high-quality development in life and health research.

ESI is an analytical and evaluative tool for measuring scientific research performance and tracking scientific development. Disciplines in the top 1% are considered high-performing, those in the top 0.1% are outstanding, and those in the top 0.01% are pioneering. 

Currently, SCUT currently has a total of 20 disciplines ranked among the global top 1% of ESI, including 6 in the top 0.1%, and 3 in the top 0.01%.
