On July 25, the 2026 Global Summer School of Emerging Engineering of South China University of Technology (SCUT) concluded at the Guangzhou International Campus. Li Weiqing, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and Vice President of SCUT, attended the closing ceremony and presented completion certificates to student representatives.

The closing ceremony featured a video reviewing the two-week learning and cultural experience. Li Weiqing pointed out that the summer school had built a platform for academic and cultural exchange between Chinese and international students, serving as an important practice in advancing the university’s two-way approach of internationalization and Internationalization at Home (IaH). She expressed the hope that young people from around the world would find a home at SCUT, pursue their aspirations, and contribute together to a sustainable future. During the ceremony, students showcased cultural achievements such as calligraphy and kung fu, while Chinese and international students performed a choral piece together, bringing the event to a close. Student and faculty representatives from different countries shared their experiences, and many international students expressed their interest in pursuing master’s degrees or participating in exchange and internship programs at SCUT.

Now in its third year, the SCUT Global Summer School of Emerging Engineering was held from July 12 to 25 and welcomed its largest-ever cohort of participants. Half of the partner universities are among the world’s top 100 universities. More than 150 Chinese and international teachers and students from 20 world-renowned universities, including the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, and Université Paris Cité, participated in the program, which was delivered through two major exchange initiatives, CEP and YES.
