South China University of Technology (SCUT) garnered 38 awards in the 2025 Guangdong Science and Technology Awards, recognizing both scientific and technological achievements and individuals. The list of winners was released by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province on October 27.

Yang Zhongmin, President of SCUT and Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was honored with the Outstanding Contribution Award. Professors Wang Di (School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering) and Fan Tianhui (School of Marine Science and Engineering) won the Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award.

SCUTsecured 25 awards as the lead institution, including 7 first prizes, 15 second prizes and 3 awards for the promotion of scientific and technological achievements. The university topped the rankings in Guangdong for both the total number of awards and the number won in each category.
